At Grand Rapids Midwifery, we honor this truth by meeting women where they are while confidently walking with them towards where they want to be. From nutrition and pregnancy support to birth education and intimate postpartum care, mothers need resources. It is our goal to not only be a resource for you, but to support you in creating the community care connections that can enliven your parental intuition, support your family transitions, and set you up for a successful parenting journey - birth and beyond.
Sarah Andrews
Owner, CPM, LM
Midwife Sarah has been supporting families as a doula, birth assistant, lactation counselor, and midwife for over 21 years and has had the honor of attending over 1200 births. She began her path into birthwork after the homebirth of her third child by becoming a doula, and soon after, started her apprenticeship into midwifery. Whether her years of serving her local community leading La Leche League or her work attending women in Iraq and Mexico, Sarah has answered the call to serve women wherever it has taken her.
She is passionate about being an inclusive provider and offering personalized care to all families. Informed consent and autonomous decision making are cornerstones of her birth philosophy, and you'll always find her taking the time to invite every family into their own empowered decision making. As a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) mother herself, Sarah specializes in VBAC clients and offers both home and birth center birth at her location in Grand Rapids. She is also passionate about the benefits of waterbirth and doula support, regardless of place of birth.

Sarah lives with her husband Joshua in downtown Rockford. They have raised 6 children - four boys and two girls - and they are "Papa Josh" and "Yaya" to their 4 grandsons. When not attending births, she enjoys reading, camping, traveling, spending time with friends and family, crocheting, and watching soccer and football.
